I received good information and training from the Pedi Endo team on taking care of my T1D granddaughter. However, as she is only 15 months old, I feel I should read extensively and this book provides some good solid no-nonsense information that has both cemented what I already know (helps to keep it alive in the brain) and provides some previously unknown info. This will also be a great resource for other members of the family who might need to step in to assist with our T1D's care.Product details

Bought this book for a family member whose daughter has Type 1 Diabetes. The book is full of information for those taking care of children with Type 1. The vast knowledge and first hand experience that the author brings by being a Type 1 diabetic makes for a very strong guide for caregivers. Would definitely recommend to anyone taking care of a Type 1 diabetic.
Samantha Markovitz just published her first book, Type 1 Diabetes Caregiver Confidence, a very complete primer to help caregivers (grandparents, babysitters, neighbors, or indeed anyone who might have to step in to help your T1 child if you are not there) understand the basics of diabetes, treatments, emergencies, etc.
This is a very real issue! Even the smartest and well-intentioned caregiver can feel unprepared and frightened of being in charge of a child with diabetes.
Samantha’s book is perfectly outlined, from start to finish. I felt like it was in a prep course in college, being taught the basics and then the details, all with gentle humor. When I was done, I just found myself smiling. Samantha hit the nail in the head, indeed, knocked the ball outta the ball park. It’s all there.
Easy to read, wise to keep on hand and share with anyone who needs a quick and accurate education on taking care of a T1 of ANY AGE!
I absolutely love this book! This book is a fantastic resource for anyone that needs to understand how to care for or properly understand the needs of someone with T1D. There are a lot of resources in this book for how to handle day to day needs as well as emergency situations. It also gives extra insight to the disease and common misconceptions that people have about it. If you or a family member are caring for someone with T1D I would highly recommend this book. I haven't yet come across one like it.
